Introducing further restrictions for cruise ships in Bergen

The city council in Bergen is set out to restrict the maximum number of cruise passengers to 8000 and number of cruise ships to 3 per day.

The city council concluded to commence a process of finding legislative framework that will allow the city to restrict the cruise traffic.

The purpose of limiting the number of ships and passenger is simply so the City of Bergen will remain an attractive destination for cruise tourists, as well as tourists in general, and for the residents of Bergen themselves. The aim is to maintain Bergen as a sustainable and attractive destination in terms of climate, the environment and number of passenger. Further, the city council concluded that Skoltegrunnskaien (“Skolten Dock”) is to be prioritised for cruise purposes.
